I am a former professor from the University of Arizona. My background is in the humanities, and I have degrees from the University of Toronto (Ph.D.), Harvard University (Master's), and the University of Rochester (Bachelor's, magna cum laude).
I have over ten years of classroom teaching experience, both within and outside of the United States. Two of these were spent teaching English to K-8 students in Japan. For the remainder, I taught broad-based humanities courses at three major research universities (Toronto, Brandeis, and Arizona). I am a former Fulbright scholar, and have travelled extensively throughout Asia, especially India and Japan.
My tutoring specialties include Reading, Writing,Test Prep (SAT/ACT, PSAT, GRE, GED), World History, Study Skills, and English as a Second Language. I am also qualified to tutor K-12 math. As an educator, I create a richly engaging (and fun!) learning environment by utilizing inquiry-based techniques. I love nothing more than to inspire a passion for learning in my students, whatever their age, interests, or abilities.
The specific aims and methods of my sessions are always developed in dialogue with each student, and are tailored to suit her/his individual needs. Please contact me asap to schedule a lesson. I can't wait to start working with you!
