I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) where I received my Masters of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology in addition to my Bachelor of Science in Biology (Minor in Microbiology). I also received my Teacher Certification from UTD. Since graduating, I have worked as an elementary teacher in private schools and a parent cooperative, teaching both statewide as well as homeschool/online curricula. In addition to teaching in schools, I have tutored one-on-one for students, ranging from elementary to high school, in comprehension of concepts, extension of learning, and mastering of homework assignments. Although I am most passionate about Biology, Sciences, literature and languages, I have tutored an extensive range of subjects including Algebra, Art, and History. A major aspect of my personal teaching philosophy is that of scaffolding, that the role of the teacher is to provide consecutive levels of temporary support to help students achieve higher levels of comprehension and skill that they could not otherwise achieve independently. I am passionate about teaching and helping students because I believe in the potential of each individual. I enjoy reading and jump rope. Although I am not proficient in horseback riding, I still cherish the dream that someday I will bewhich, here in Texas, with its widespread availability, is a definite possibility.
