I first discovered tutoring in high school, during standardized testing season. While studying for the SAT and ACT, I discovered certain test-taking strategies that worked for me, and wanted to share them with my friends and classmates. At first this was informal, at the lunch table or on the bus, but it quickly grew into more formal tutoring.
When I attended Amherst College to pursue a degree in English, I carried this passion for education with me. For years I participated in a work-study mentoring underprivileged students in order to improve literacy and encourage a love of reading.
I'm excited to tutor in a wide variety of subjects, particularly in standardized test preparation and in the humanities. For me, learning is about inspiration and passion. Teaching provides an opportunity to see the world in new ways and to even open up the possibilities for new worlds.
