I'm a freshman at Cornell University pursuing a major in Chemistry and Chemical Biology with aspirations to one day enter the medical field! My academic and instructional strengths include (but are not limited to) mathematics of all levels, chemistry, biology, and ACT/SAT/AP test prep across a multitude of subjects. I take pride in my strong communication skills that allow me to explain complex topics in intuitive and meaningful ways so that students can develop strong conceptual foundations. In addition, I have a knack for finding roadblocks in a student's understanding.
As indicated by my strong academic record, I take education very seriously. My own experiences and achievements allow me to offer useful strategies for preparing, studying, and learning. In addition, I have prior experience with teaching. A former math tutor at Kumon (an after-school enrichment center), I have taught levels of mathematics ranging from basic arithmetic through advanced calculus to students of all ages.
It is my belief that knowledge is very much like a tree. Without a trunk and branches, there is nothing for the twigs and leaves to hang onto. As students progress through their studies, a solid conceptual core will be necessary for further learning. It is my goal to help my students to establish this core. As a student myself, I understand how frustrating school and standardized testing can sometimes be. My own experiences inform my style of teaching as well as the strategies and tips that I provide. Please check out my credentials and reach out if you would like to talk more about me being your tutor!
