I am here to tutor accounting. After over 25 years as an accounting professional, I am transitioning to a teaching career. I recently completed the requirements for a Graduate Certificate of College Teaching from Texas A&M, and I have begun teaching Managerial Accounting at Houston Community College. I now have an opportunity to share my knowledge.
My extensive experience in accounting, auditing and financial reporting, combine with my recently acquired knowledge of college student development, adult learning styles and trends in pedagogy, not only to support my career transition, but also to make me ideally suited to be a tutor. I can provide the viewpoint of both an instructor and a student. I am also familiar with the type of knowledge and characteristics that future employees look for in college business school graduates. I look forward to helping new accountants and businesspeople develop.
I believe that a good student is inquisitive so that my best tutoring sessions start with a student describing his current understanding and where his discomfort with the topic originates. Once we have that baseline, I strive to explain concepts in a way the student understands best. Real-world examples are excellent tools.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my interaction with tutoring students thus far. Seeing understanding light up a students eyes and hearing of their successes are my perfect rewards. I hope to have the opportunity to assist you.
