I come from a strong science background, getting a B.S. in biology and chemistry with a specialization in chemical biology from Brandeis University, one of the top 35 universities in the country. Aside from my scientific experience, I have at least six years of tutoring experience, teaching subjects ranging from English literature to microbiology to Microsoft Excel. I am very patient and advocate strongly for the success of my students. My favorite subjects to tutor are biology and chemistry, since those are tough topics and it's rewarding to guide a student to the right answers and teach them how to think not just about the problem in front of them but about the subject as a whole.
My teaching philosophy is very heavily student-based. I help a student learn not in one specific way, but by learning how that student thinks and works over several sessions and by integrating that into my lessons. Additionally, I emphasize understanding core principles first and specific problems, questions, or exercises laterunderstanding the why makes the what much simpler.
Outside of tutoring, some of my hobbies include watching movies (I'm a fan of both old classic movies and new summer blockbusters), playing video games (particularly rhythm games and RPGs), and listening to music. I love learning new things by watching videos or listening to TED talks, but also really enjoy stand-up comedy on Netflix.
