My name is Valencia Reese. I am a Reading Interventionist at KIPP Legacy Charter School. I've been working as an Interventionist for the past two years. I primarily work with at risk 1st and 2nd graders helping them improve their reading and comprehension. Many of my students are ELL's (English Language Learners). I also teach Corrective Reading classes to 3rd and 4th graders that are below grade in Reading.
Prior to being an Interventionist I was a kindergarten teacher for 6 years teaching all subjects. I specialize in Reading. I enjoy teaching foundational skills, phonics instruction, helping students improve their accuracy, fluency, and reading rate. I love working with students and helping them become more avid readers. I love the look on a student's face when they finally get something, and they feel proud. It brings me joy knowing I helped them along the way to finally get there.
I recently got married this past year. I don't have any children yet, so the students I come in contact with are my babies. I have one dog who thinks he's a person. I love traveling, bowling, and going to the beach. I look forward to working with you and your child and helping them grow academically.
