I am a graduate student at Kent State University obtaining my Master's of Science in neuroscience. I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Akron with a Bachelor's of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry. I have approximately 6 years of tutoring and professional teaching experience. At the University of Akron, I took certified courses to become a tutor and learning assistant. At Kent State University, I taught two years of Introductory Biology laboratories. I am an effective communicator, recognize the different learning styles of students, and can break concepts down to a basic level using multiple approaches. I use various multimedia to assist me, including audio, visual, video clips, and construction of models. Once I acquire my master's degree, I will pursue my dream of being a college professor.

I have a very student-centric approach, where I can identify the issues that the student is having and create ways to get them over the hurdle they are currently experiencing. My specialties are English, writing, proofreading, and the hard sciences (biology, physiology, neuroscience, genetics, evolution, etc). My favorite subjects are neuroscience and evolution. I love teaching all things biology, with English coming in as a close second. My field requires great strength and knowledge in both of these fields.

For my MS, I worked with transgenic mice to develop a new, breakthrough treatment for Alzheimer's disease (AD). As mice do not acquire AD as humans do, transgenic mice are used. This means that a gene known to cause AD has been isolated from humans and spliced into the mouse model. In using this genomic technology, we are able to test treatments and further understand the disease. My research was based around the hormone amylin, which we found significantly decreases the speed at which the disease progresses. It is very exciting!
