I am a native Spanish speaker, born in America but partially raised in Colombia. I have a great passion for languages and can speak English and Spanish with native fluency (as well as conversational French).

I graduated with IB certificates in both English and Spanish and have tutored students in both languages, which has produced great results. I have lived in Colombia, Canada, and the United States and the variety of Spanish I teach is Latin American standard Spanish, the more "neutral" and most easily understood, which will go a long way in the Spanish speaking world. That said, I do know and can teach many varieties of regional slang.

My tutoring approach depends on the topic a student needs reinforcement in and on whether the student is studying for a course/test taking or vying for fluency. However, a constant will be an emphasis on understanding how Spanish works as opposed to just repeating words and conjugations so the student may tackle future topics with more ease. After all, to learn is not just to memorize, but to understand.
