My name is Tunan, originally from China. I spent 5 years in Michigan State University studying Mechanical Engineering. And now, I'm studying in New York University, majoring in Digital Media Design for Learning, a newer subject in the Education field.
I had tutoring experience in College Algebra in Michigan State University. I held two recitations for students and graded their exams. In the recitation, I answered their questions and set some specific problems for them to solve. I also worked in the Math Learning Center where I answered questions from different levels of students. During my time of tutoring, I tried to explain problems in a way that they could understand, not just copy the method from the book. Because I was majoring in Mechanical Engineering, I can handle most of the math and physics materials too. I'm very familiar with Algebra, if this is what you want to learn, I'm the man. For other content, as long as I learned it before, I can be prepared within a week.
I was also a tutor in an Advanced Chinese course. In this class, I partnered with an individual student, helped him/her go through the materials and practice speaking. I corrected their pronunciations and tones as well as the meaning of certain words or sentences. Also, I did a research program with a professor for about 4 years on Chinese students community and intercultural blend so I would be a really good tutor if you are interested in either the Chinese language or the Chinese culture.
About myself, I love talking and mind storming with people which is also the reason why I switched to education as my major in graduate school. I know that every brain works differently so I want to design a system or a method that can enhance our learning experience by recognizing how we learn. This is the reason why I chose my current major. I always try to explore interesting ways of teaching. So, if I become your tutor, get ready for some new and different learning experiences!
