I graduated from Franklin University Switzerland in 2010 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and French with a minor in History. Additionally, I spent one semester attending the University of Lyon in Lyon, France to become fluent in French.
During my time living in Switzerland, I was a live-in English tutor for 2 boys, ages 14 and 9. After graduating, I spent a year working for AmeriCorps designing and implementing a vocational ESL class for adult refugees.
I have since become a certified classroom teacher for all elementary grades. I have taught 1st grade English Language Arts, reading and history and am currently teaching 5th grade science and history. I also have experience tutoring math and reading on several different grade levels.
My favorite subjects to teach are phonics and reading because I love languages and I love the opportunity to pass on that passion to children. I have always loved learning and I think it is so important to pass on a love of learning and of education to children. This is why I love to tutor. The one-on-one time during tutoring is the perfect time to show students that learning can be fun and that it can be tailored perfectly to their needs!
In my spare time I enjoy doing ballet, reading historical novels, and spending time with my family.
