Ever since I was a child, I've been involved with the other side of the classroom. Both my parents are teachers, and as their daughter, I was often used as a source of free labor. Luckily, I was pretty good at helping out. I became well-versed in helping students become better learners. The subject matter often extended to my home life too, since my parents would come home and discuss their classes and various strategies for coping with slow learners or troublesome tests.
I also excelled in school from a very young age. I graduated in the top ten of my high school while also earning my AA through the Running Start program, and then proceeded to graduate summa cum laude with my BS in food science and nutrition. School has always been a safe place for me, a place where I could grow and learn and adapt. I want to share that with other students who might be struggling to achieve their goals. I want to show them that learning doesn't have to be frustrating. School can be a place that fosters learning and creativity, rather than a battleground of confusing texts and homework. By applying the proper learning techniques and putting in the time, school can become so much less stressful, and kids can focus on growing instead of getting stressed about subjects they don't understand.
