I am a graduate of Virginia Tech—Go Hokie!! I received both my Bachelors of Arts in English and my Masters of Arts in Secondary English Education. I because a teacher because I love people and I love to learn. My approach to teaching is to help students find a love of learning. I get to know my students and connect with them on a personal level. Then I find ways to make them connect with the subject matter and help them discover strengths they didn’t know they had. Over the past decade, I have taught over a thousand students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. I’ve worked with talented students at the top on their class and high school students who read at the 3rd grade level. My favorite genre of literature is American Lit—To Kill a Mockingbird is my all-time favorite novel. I aim to be more and more like Atticus Finch every day. When I am not teaching, I am having dance parties with my daughters, finding things that make me laugh, reading about current events, cooking delicious food, watching my favorite TV series (The Office), and just trying to make the most of this life.
