My tutoring experience is wide and varied. I started tutoring on a volunteer basis in high school as part of an anti-dropout program. As part of the program I tutored multiple students in just about every subject, especially math and science. This is where I learned that I had a real knack and joy for teaching. So, I turned that passion into a source of income when I started college. I taught college science lab lectures part time while studying full time for my Bachelor's. After graduating I was bitten by the "travel bug," so I decided to join a program to teach English as a second language in China.
I am patient, motivated, and a creative problem solver. I love "non traditional" methods. The internet is a powerful tool and I wield it well. I also enjoy more "hands on" approaches. Anything beyond reading and lecturing, because not everyone can successfully learn that way. My particular forte is any sort of science, math, and I have a particular fondness for essays. I love to read, help compose, and proofread essays.
Ultimately, my goal is to put myself out of business. I want my client to understand and apply the material. On top of that, I will try to instill studying and learning techniques that can be applied to any subject. Throughout my life I have been fortunate enough to find teachers, tutors, and mentors that helped me succeed. I will try and do the same.
