A couple of classmates and I used to worry a lot about getting work done and completed. Who can enjoy free time when the thought of knowing you have to teach yourself the lesson you didn't understand in class is gnawing at your soul? It becomes a burden that hooks itself onto your shoulder to weigh you down. We experienced this on a daily, and so (with the help of a few online resources) we would turn to each other for help, becoming our own little tutoring group; hence, why I work very well within my age group. Despite that, I have helped students younger than me and we got along well. I hope to continue to work with a wider range and diverse group of people so that I can also gain knowledge from sessions.

I will be a freshman this fall at Saint Louis University working for my degree in Computer Science. My strongest subjects are math (mainly on the algebra and calculus side) and Spanish, and they are the two I focus on tutoring. My favorite of the two is most definitely Spanish because of it's flexibility. With math, it's very logical, so step-by-step processes are the way to go; but with Spanish there's much more freedom in the learning process whether it's through a textbook, song, game, or a one-to-one conversation.

I believe that learning to love learning is the first and most crucial step to take. Forcefully shoving information towards someone won't help them in any way. Application is also important. because it allows students to make connections and gives them a purpose to learn. Whether they like it or not, there is always that "oh!" moment when a student connects the "useless" lesson they just finished with something they find in the real world.

When I'm not focusing on school or the tutoring world, I still spend my time learning. I'm particularly passionate about languages and the culture behind each. I just find it to be one of the most interesting things about life and I love how I sound like a different person every time my tongue switches a language. The number one goal on my bucket list is to be fluent in five!

I look forward to working with more students in the future because I truly believe that education is the fundamental key to personal and worldwide success!
