I am a Pre-Medicine student at Saint Louis University pursuing a B.S. in Health Management with a Minor is Biology. I am currently doing voluntary research this summer with the Billiken Bee Lab led by Dr. Gerardo Camilo at SLU. I have a relatively good experience with tutoring students from all different age groups. Being the oldest out of six children, I have helped them all with different subjects revolving around the maths and sciences they have taken throughout school. In addition to that, I had volunteered at a local Islamic private school called Alsalam Day School under the teachers Dave and Muniza. I was a tutor for after school sessions with students (Grades 5-8) who are struggling with topics in Math, Sciences, and Social Studies. I have also helped some High School students with topics in Math up to Calculus 1, Biology, English, Essay Editing, Chemistry, and Test Preparation for the ACT. My favorite topics to tutor are Biology and ACT prep. The reason why Biology is my favorite topic to tutor is because I am very passionate for it, hence the fact that I decided to pick up a Minor in Biology. Biology has always been my favorite subject as a student as it is very fascinating in the way of explaining how life works, all the way from the Molecular/Cellular Biology to Ecology. My passion for Biology helps a lot when it comes to helping others understand the concepts in Biology. In terms of ACT Prep, I love tutoring it because when the student comes back with an improved score, there is a sense of accomplishment coming from both sides. I believe that a major key to doing well on timed tests like the ACT is good time management. Some students tend to overthink or spend too much time on a problem, using up the time to look at other problems, and leading to them having to guess at the end. This can affect a students score, so I like to provide the student efficient ways of which to answer the questions while keeping in mind the time limit. When I tutor a student on a certain topic, I like to assess the students knowledge on that topic at first. Using the assessment, I can find the students weaker areas on the topic and reinforce them. Doing this can lead to a more efficient tutoring session. At Saint Louis University, I participate in a lot of extracurriculars. I am the Diversity Leadership Cabinet of the Middle Eastern Student Association at SLU. In addition to that, I am the VP of Communications of my Multicultural fraternity Alpha Iota Omicron and I am a dues paying member of Muslim Student Association and Indian Student Association. I am very interested in cultural awareness and showing cultural competence within our community. I also play soccer recreationally, but played it throughout High School. I'm also experienced in electronic device repairs.
