I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Linguistics and Hispanic Languages and Literatures, a minor in Portuguese, and a certificate in Latin American Studies. While completing my undergraduate coursework, I was a teaching assistant for a Portuguese 3 class and volunteered to tutor students in speaking, listening, reading and writing. After graduating, I spent ten months in Brazil teaching English to teenagers and adults. I am most passionate about ESL, Portuguese, Spanish, and writing, but I'm able to tutor a variety of other subjects as well. Based on my experiences as both a teacher and a student, I believe that students learn best when they are truly engaged in the content and are using it in a practical and valuable way. Because of this, I cater my teaching approaches and lessons to each student's needs and desires to help them reach their individual goals. In my spare time, I love traveling, dancing, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends.
