What is your teaching philosophy?
I like to ask questions to the student when they ask me a question. This helps them gain an understanding of the problem rather than listening to me lecture or drone on about the answer!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I always like to find out about the student's background in the subject. Confidence/building confidence is key to solving any problem.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Through reasoning out the problem with the student instead of simply demonstrating the answer.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By relating to their struggle with similar situations of my own. And by making the complex problems seem easy by breaking them down into simpler, more manageable steps.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Present the problem from multiple angles instead of only the way that I see as the best solution.
