I love math and science! Like any kid, I struggled with math, until my 8th grade Algebra teacher opened my eyes and made it fun! Then my high school Chemistry teacher opened the world of Chemistry to me, and I have loved it ever since!! Which is why I became a Chemical Engineer!

As I mentioned, I have a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. I also have a MS in Biological Sciences - Biotechnology from Florida Institute of Technology. I love learning new information and expanding my knowledge of my field; which is something I hope to pass on to my students.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy outdoor sports especially road cycling and soccer. If I'm not riding or playing soccer, I am outside spending time with my husband, two sons and two dogs.

One thing I hope to pass on to my students is that being a woman in a male dominated field has taught me that you don't always have to be the best; hard work and dedication speak volumes!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Trying new approaches to understanding a skill or concept is the best method to helping a student when they are having difficulty mastering it. If just listening to a lecture/lesson is not enough, taking better/more notes may help. If note taking is not enough, then creating visual aids such as flash cards may help. There is a world of possibilities out there to help a student. And sometimes it just takes a little imagination.
