My philosophy has always been that every student can learn; it's simply a matter of discovering each person's individual learning style. I have spent the past 24 years helping students in grades K-12 with reading, writing, math, social studies and science, as well as trained teachers across several states on these same subjects for two global education publishers. In my free time, I directed a group of 125 volunteer tutors for three years, who helped to raise state assessment scores for students in a school that had lost many of its resources. Finally, my most recent work has been teaching courses to education majors at several local colleges.
My hobbies and interests include reading (I am a voracious reader!), connecting with friends on social media, gardening, hiking and kayaking (I grew up on a dairy farm and love the outdoors). My two rescue cats keep me company in the evenings, and may even try to horn in on tutoring sessions.
