Hello! My name is Rich. As a teacher and military officer, I have experience working with a wide variety of age groups, skill levels, and motivation levels. I pride myself on finding the right approach that best suits a particular student.
After completing a bachelor of arts in political science at Yale University, I served 8 years as a combat arms officer in the US Army. I coached, trained and mentored soldiers and junior officers in a wide variety of tasks. After leaving the military, I completed graduate coursework for a master's degree in international affairs at Tufts University. Finally, I recently finished all academic requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Maryland.
I am a current substitute teacher in the DC public school system, with experience at the elementary, middle school and high school level. In addition to general education and small group intervention, I have performed multiple, long-term special education assignments working one on one with students.
Having returned to school to receive a second bachelor's, I am also aware of the challenges and constraints faced by adult learners. I look forward to working with any student who seeks to improve.
