We each have a learning style that works best for us. As your tutor I will help you figure out your best way to learn, and I will help you apply your learning style to reach your goals. Most of my tutoring experience has been with my kids. Probably the best compliment I have ever received was when my son said that he appreciated how my way of tutoring had made him feel like he had figured out how to do his homework assignment on his own. I have also spent much of my work life being a tutor or mentor for those around me. None of us knows everything, and so we must learn from each other and accept responsibility for teaching each other.
I graduated from Davidson College with a degree in economics, and from the Yale School of Management where I focused on finance and organizational behavior. Algebra is my favorite subject to tutor. I love the fact that there is a right answer, and I enjoy helping people understand how we use algebra very frequently in our everyday lives. I am interested in the world around me: science, history, politics. I am interested in understanding the various cultures around the world, why people have very different views on how to relate to each other, what to eat, where we came from, why we are here. I enjoy playing and watching sports (especially baseball), and I love being outdoors, hiking or just relaxing at a quiet mountain lake.
