Hello!
I graduated from the University of California-Irvine (2019) with cum laude honors and dual degrees in English and Education. I am currently completing a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential graduate program at Biola University.
My career goal is to become a high school English teacher.
Bio: I was born in South Pasadena, California and I am the oldest of four children. In 2003 my father quit his job and my parents decided to become missionaries/humanitarian workers. As a result of this decision, I've had the opportunity to travel all over the world. Countries I've visited include Mexico, India, England, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Turkey, Peru, Korea and Indonesia. Through my travels I've had the opportunity to learn about many different cultures and I've built relationships with people from very different backgrounds. I believe that my experiences have allowed me to better understand how to relate and connect with all kinds of people. I believe that relational literacy is a skill that allows me to be an effective and caring tutor/teacher.
I currently have almost 5 years of experience working as a tutor for elementary to high school aged students in both individual and classroom settings. I have also spent a year working with students with special needs.
I've worked privately as well as for tutoring businesses such as Varsity Tutors, Acclaim Academic Institute, Tutornerd, and Crescenta Academy Music and Enrichment. Subjects I tutor include: nearly all elementary and middle school subjects, high school English, honors English, AP English, Algebra (Math I), Algebra II (Math II), biology, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
As a student at UCI and Biola, I've completed over 50 hours of fieldwork at elementary schools and after school enrichment programs. I've also taken and excelled in writing/research classes as well as classes in early childhood education.
If you're looking for a caring tutor that will be able to accurately assess your student's needs and provide practical help, I would love to do my best to help you out!
