I am a junior at the University of California, Irvine double majoring in English and Education, and my career goal is to become a public high school teacher.
I was born in Pasadena, California but in 2003 my father quit his job and my parents decided to become Christian humanitarian workers. As a result of this decision, I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world. Even in high school and college I have taken advantage of my long summers to journey to new countries. Countries I have visited include India, England, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Turkey, Peru, and Indonesia. My travels have cultivated a love for all kinds of people, and I love building relationships. I believe that my experience with a wide variety of cultures has allowed me to better understand people coming from different places and how to relate and connect with them.
I have several years of experience working as a tutor for elementary to high school aged students, as well as students with special needs, in both individual and class room settings. I have also taken care of children on Sundays through organizations at my church (Young Nak Presbyterian) in Los Angeles. Even at home, as the oldest child of four, I am constantly placed in a guiding/mentoring position. I believe that I am highly proficient and comfortable in that role.
As an English and Education double major at UCI, I have taken and excelled in writing/research classes as well as classes in childhood education.
