Hey there! My name is Matthew and I am a sophomore at the University of Arizona studying political science with a burning passion for my Arizona Wildcats (Beardown!) and keeping up with our world.

From a pretty young age, I've always enjoyed helping peers with school work and helping explain concepts that maybe they didn't quite understand. I transitioned this desire to help my peers, into becoming a math and English tutor to middle school kids for three years in high-school.

My goal in tutoring is to not only teach students the specific content but teach them why that learning matters! I honestly believe learning is a lifelong process and I hope that through working together with all of my students I can inspire the same love of learning which I have always held.

High School:
- I competed in speech and debate with a speciality in high speaker scores
- Theatre for four years
- Student Council
- Graduated with Honors

College:
- Honors college
- Students for Sustainability
- Honors Student Council
- Associated Students of the University of Arizona

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Learning WITH the students and letting the students learn with their own self-discoveries with the content. I always want to teach the context of the material as well to promote a habit of lifetime learning!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Going over their goals, wishes, and needs. Mapping out a road plan for successful learning and engagement.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Setting the student up with the right practice problems/materials, making sure the student knows why the learning is important.
