I am currently attending Hunter College and studying nursing. Math is my passion! I want to make it a priority not only to help students understand math but to make it interesting and evoke the feeling of enthusiasm that I feel! I currently tutor algebra 1, algebra 2 for students in high school and college, elementary school math, and middle school math,

My philosophy for teaching is to make sure the student understands the concept of math and once that occurs, to make it interesting! Giving students word problems and application problems in math can make math much more exciting, and can help the student understand even fuller!

In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar and flute. I have a passion for music and have been in several orchestras for over a decade. I apply the concept of playing an instrument to not only myself but the student, and to always seek self improvement. I also am a camp counselor in the summer and enjoy working with children. I have worked with children for five years and truly make a connection with many of them. I was responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. I believe this concept of involving the children and students can apply to my tutoring philosophy; I want my students to be completely involved in the tutoring process and be able to complete problems on their own in order to truly understand what they are learning

Q & A

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

The first session with a student, I want to see what skills the student possesses. I like to give a couple of questions ranging in difficulty. As a result of doing this, I can see exactly what the student is capable of and what the student needs improvement in for a more productive tutoring experience.
