Hello! My name is Kelly and I have over 8 years of in-home tutoring experience. I am a firm believer that learning should be fun and I enjoy more than ever passing that joy and love for learning on to my students. My background includes working as a 2nd grade teacher in San Antonio Independent School District where I taught reading, writing, math, science and social studies in accordance to the Texas State Curriculum. I graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Education. As a biology major at Duke I completed coursework in collegiate level math and science courses including biology, chemistry and physics and as a private tutor have worked many hours with high school students in math and science. At the elementary and middle school level I have studied the Hill Center's Reading Achievement Program which teaches reading intervention strategies for struggling readers. I tutored and worked as a teaching assistant extensively in Durham Public Schools for four years with students grades PreK through 8th in all subject areas. I love what I do and find joy each day in helping students achieve their goals!
