What is your teaching philosophy?
As a teacher, my primary goal is to guide students through the learning process, focusing on subject matter in my area of expertise, using current teaching tools available. I strive to personally model this using my professional experience in the real world, while maintaining a light energetic personality, and continuously seek new methods of processing and presentation. My lesson plans allow flexibility for questions and detailed instruction. I present students the fundamentals of the subject, real world examples, and test-taking methods. From this, the student will experience a ‘hands-on’ practical application of the learning process, and, as a teacher and professional in my field, I have the opportunity to gain new insight based on individual student needs.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduction, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and a set instruction timeline.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Part of my methodology includes instructing the students on how to maximize their learning opportunities, note-taking and time management.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I have an outgoing energetic personality and I am totally AWARE of non-verbal communication. I interact with students and ask open-ended questions to keep them involved in the subject matter.
