Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Meet the students where they are and bring them where they need to be.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

We will spend the first 5-10 minutes reviewing the area of difficulty, then address the area step by step using an example. Then, we will apply the tools learned in the lesson to ensure understanding.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help them by providing them with easy to remember tools to refer to during their own time.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will remind them that this subject area is a building block and the concepts can be difficult to learn but not impossible.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would adjust my tutoring strategy, by listening to the student and taking into account their learning style.
