As a tutor, I think building confidence in a student is as important as building understanding. I have loved my studies and am eager to cultivate the same enthusiasm for learning in others.
I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from the Department of Earth and Planetary Science and completed my undergraduate education with honors.
While my passion is earth science, I have had experience and academic success in courses related to biology, ecology, environmental science, astronomy, and geography. I have a strong background in math, physics, and chemistry. And although it was not my focus, I am a proficient writer and am comfortable with the mechanical and conceptual composition of written assignments.
My major-specific classes included a great deal of field work as well as lab work, completing problems sets, writing research papers and lab reports, and even mapping a large portion of the Berkeley hills. I completed my senior honors thesis after a year of collaborative research with UC Berkeley faculty and intend to pursue the topic of that thesis in future research endeavors. In the fall of 2016, I plan to begin my graduate education; I am currently in the process of applying to PhD programs.
