My passion for teaching Spanish comes from devoted work with a wide range of students. I have taught beginning and advanced Spanish to high school students for over twenty-three years, taught ESL students ranging from middle school to adults, and tutored professionals who want to learn Spanish for the first time or improve their Spanish language skills.

My tutoring is geared to each individual, and I design each session so that it has a unique dynamic and rhythm. The link that binds my students is the desire to actively communicate in another language. It is my responsibility and my joy to help guide them successfully toward their goals.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Teaching has always been a calling for me. I never cease to be amazed when my students successfully recreate a Spanish concept using the tools I have given them! Learning a language can be intimidating. It is my priority to establish a positive atmosphere where students feel challenged as well as accepted. My core ingredients for teaching are a combination of enthusiasm, knowledge, and preparedness, delivered in a caring, yet disciplined environment. Teaching Spanish, like any language, is unique in that it engages all modalities of learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is always a joy to combine critical thinking with creativity as well as introduce perspectives of life through a variety of lenses.
