Hi, I would like to be you or your child's tutor. I wanna tell you a bit about myself, my experiences, and my motivations. I have been teaching at the elementary school level for 7 years, 6 years in NC and this my first year in Virginia. I decided to become a teacher during my first year of college at Elizabeth City State University just after football season. I realized I was most likely not heading for the pro's. So I decided to take a look around at the opportunities my college had to offer. I remember walking through the halls of my school thinking that elementary education was a way I could have a gigantic impact on not just one person but groups of people. I had no idea what the real challenges associated with teaching were. It was a struggle but for those little people that attended my class daily it was a struggle that was worth fighting. I did then and I do now continue to look for new ways to improve my teaching. During my third year of teaching I decided to get my Masters degree in Elementary Education at Gardner-Webb University. I am highly skilled at teaching all elementary education topics and several history and science topics. If I was pressed to say I believe I am best at tutoring math because it is easiest to diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of students. I have developed a love for learning that seems to be contagious, outside of school/work I spend much of my time learning about topics that interest me. I like to catch up on the news, learn about new developments in science and technology and I enjoy playing chess to keep my mind sharp. Outside of learning I enjoy hanging out with my girlfriend, taking our dog to the park, playing board games, and really any type of sport.
