I graduated from the University of Miami, where I earned a dual degree in both Journalism and Creative Writing. After college, I received a Masters in Education from Lesley University and began teaching in Washington, DC. I taught in DC from 2010-2014, teaching middle school math and 5th & 6th reading. As a dedicated reader and writer, I gained the invaluable experience of sharing some of my own personal reading strategies with my students. I was able to see significant gains from my students, specifically through their increased reading levels, outperformance of Washington, DC grade-level averages on quarterly interim exams, and the recognition of Tier 1 status by my school. I believe in guiding students to understanding by asking them the "why" questions that will not just lead them to the correct answer, but will help them to comprehend why the answer is correct. I enjoy the opportunity to work with students one-on-one, as it allows me the chance to reach the student in whichever way will work best for them. In my personal time, I love watching movies, reading, watching sports, and learning about Black History.
