I am a graduate from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in Physics, and I have an education degree from George Mason. I have taught math and science at various grade levels in middle and upper school for over 13 years, focusing primarily on middle school mathematics. I have tutored students in both math and science, with most of this experience in physics, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I have spent several years coaching students for MathCounts, math meets, and other competitions. I enjoy teaching and tutoring math and science, trying to make both subjects relatable, understandable, useful, and fun. I enjoy working through challenging problems and trying to pass along that enthusiasm to students. I think that the connections between a tutor / teacher and students and the comfort level of a student are vital to developing confidence and success. My personal interests include sports (as a fan, player, and coach), photography (I taught an enrichment course in b/w photography for several years), marine biology (have taught enrichment courses and am an avid diver), and travel.
