I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science (Pre-Vet) and a minor in Zoology. I have just finished applying to Veterinary School and hope to attend next year. I have always been someone that friends and classmates go to for answers or help with their work. I have several years of experience in informal tutoring and a year of formal tutoring experience. During my sophomore year of college, I worked at a high school for at risk inner city children teaching math and science. My specialty is biology and any associated sciences, history, and essay writing. I really enjoy tutoring biology because I am very passionate about the subject. I find it fascinating and there are many great ways to teach it. I would say I am a very adaptable tutor; I find that no one style of teaching fits every person. But in general I like to just be a knowledge repository, able to help and guide a student in coming to the correct answer or understanding a problem. I like to use examples that a student can relate to especially with abstract concepts. I am a friendly person and want the person I am tutoring to like me, which I feel facilitates learning.
Outside of the academic world I enjoy reading, playing video games, listening and playing music watching and playing sports, hanging out with friends, do things outdoors, traveling, and movies/tv. I have a wide range of interests and can find common ground with almost anyone. I hope to not only help and inspire students to succeed but to be someone they can feel comfortable with and talk to about what interests them.
