I graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in English and Spanish. Ever since my study abroad experience in Costa Rica in college, I have been very passionate about teaching and continuing to learn Spanish. I taught high school Spanish levels 1-5 for five years, and I loved it. After five years of teaching, I had the opportunity to move to Lima, Peru to work as a missionary. My Spanish ability and knowledge of the Latin American culture grew tremendously over the three and a half years that I lived there. While I was there I taught English as a Foreign Language to Peruvians. I've had the opportunity to travel to several Spanish speaking countries including Spain, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
When I teach or tutor, I always try to meet the student where they are. By that I mean that I evaluate their learning style and do my best to cater to it. I try to move fast enough that the student is happy with their progress, and slow enough that they don't feel discouraged or overwhelmed. I think that my excitement about Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures is good learning motivation as well. I like to be creative with lesson plans, and I am a very thorough teacher.
