I am originally from Rhode Island. Moved to Florida when I was 12. Went to high school and college and graduate school in Southwest FL. I achieved my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida in 2013 with my major being in Molecular Biology and Microbiology. After my undergraduate career, I went to the University of South Florida, in Tampa. I received my Master's degree in Medical Science. I am currently working part time in a research laboratory studying Alzheimer's disease, and am applying to medical schools over the next year. In terms of standardized tests, I have taken the ACT, SAT, and MCAT and have scored fairly high on all 3. In terms of academic courses, I have thoroughly studied the biology field, with undergraduate courses and graduate courses in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Immunology, Pharmacology, and many others. In my preparation for the MCAT, and as requirements for my bachelor's degree, I have also taken many of the Physics, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry courses, such as Physics I, Physics II, General Chem I, General Chem II, Oganic Chem I, Organic Chem II, Biochemistry I, and Biochemistry II. I have tutored many students in all of these subjects both at my undergraduate and graduate institutions. I enjoy tutoring because I enjoy helping other students process, learn, and internalize the same information I had to learn. I try to accomplish this through explanations of topics, and if a student is still not understanding the material-- I use a series of metaphors to help try and orient the student's mindset. I enjoy this because helping the student learn the information presents itself as a puzzle to me, that I need to work out through different techniques. There is no greater feeling than when a student who is struggling with information finally understands the material. I currently tutor in various Biology, Physics, and Chemistry courses, and also in MCAT and ACT Test Prep. My favorite courses to teach are the sciences. Outside of school, I like to hang out with friends, cycling, running, watching football, hockey, or soccer, kayaking, going the beach, and playing soccer on the intramural fields in my off time. My goals in life are to eventually matriculate into medical school and to become a physician.
