I've been a teacher and tutor for six years! I currently am a certified, full-time teacher at a top school in Alexandria. I graduated in 2008 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have experience teaching multiple subjects in 5th through 8th grade.
I tutor 4th through 8th grade math (including Pre-Algebra and Algebra), science, American History, and English, as well as 4th, 5th, & 6th reading and writing. Math is my passion, though. I know, however, that math is not always a favorite of others. I'm good at making math understandable, in breaking it down to a simple form so that it's easier to comprehend. But teaching isn't about just teaching a subject. It's about connecting, about relating to the individual. So I strive to connect with my students on a personal level.
When I'm not in the classroom, I'm probably spending time with my wife and son (born Sept 2012). Both are my pride and joy. Sports is another passion of mine - baseball, football, basketball, you name it (excited for the start of March Madness and baseball season!). I also enjoy going to movies, cooking (Cajun - lived in New Orleans), reading, and hanging out with friends. Life, for me, is about three things: Faith, Family, and Friends (and sometimes I'll add Football).
