I am a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Human Rights Studies. While a student at Barnard, I worked continually with children as a babysitter, often providing homework help. I became more involved in education when I worked as a co-teacher with Peace by Peace, where I taught non-violent conflict resolution skills to fourth grade students during my senior year. It was rewarding to watch the students grasp new concepts, test new teaching strategies, and see the results. After graduation, I joined the US Peace Corps where I provided community health education at a village health center. Instructing village health staff in community education techniques allowed me to refine my own abilities to transmit information. Working with a language barrier, I learned how to break down complex ideas into more concrete and understandable topics and deliver that information. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Literature, Writing, French, and both U.S. and World History. I enjoy helping students solve complex problems and learn critical thinking skills. In my spare time, I am an avid traveler and bibliophile.
