I have been teaching and tutoring for the past four years. I recently moved to Tucson after graduating with a Master’s in City and Regional Planning from UNC-Chapel Hill and prior to that obtained a Bachelor’s in Economics and Geography from the University of Georgia.
I discovered my love for teaching during a year abroad as a Fulbright Scholar in Chile where I taught group and one-on-one English classes at a university. Since then, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in grad school and as an English and Spanish instructor here in Tucson. I also have edited and proofread research papers and essays for professors and fellow students, not to mention every member of my extended family.
In addition to English writing and Spanish, I also teach Economics, Geography, and History. I believe in tailoring classes to students’ individual learning styles and interests and maximizing participation. I understand how important practice and other mental tricks are to overcoming obstacles like test anxiety, and I value positive reinforcement. I love helping students learn and feel truly rewarded when a student succeeds.
When not tutoring, I enjoy hiking, biking, and traveling.
