The student has a quiz on Tuesday on factoring. His mom sent me a review packet he had almost completed in preparation for his quiz. It was a very comprehensive review. I thought today would be a great chance to review while factoring. I gave him a helpful step-by-step guide to follow when completing his factoring. He is still showing tremendous progress and I wish him best of luck for his quiz! Tomorrow, I will compile some review questions and send it to his mom for some extra practice.

Student 1 discussed the Catcher in the Rye and developed an outline for a future essay. We went through how to structure a paragraph and an essay. This will be a topic to revisit in the future.
Student 2 and I did preparation questions for the student's exam, which covered topics that she had not been taught yet. It was half me teaching and half her doing practice problems. It's great that she is getting an early start on this.

We had a great session. We nearly completed all of the questions the student had on his end of course test review. We are going to meet again tomorrow for a short time to finish up.

The student had a lot of complex math homework. His class is working on kg and g, converting between the two, etc. He had to think about which unit to convert the problem to, use word problems to discern which numbers should be added/ subtracted from each other. We also spent the last few minutes working on long division. This has been an area that needs work and I recommended doing an example problem or two every night.

We worked on rational numbers (decimals) this session. The student did very well with this material. He demonstrated that he has a good understanding of calculating rational numbers in general and decimals in particular. We reviewed computing rational numbers (fractions) and completed worksheets that included 4 and 5 step problems involving order of operations. He completed all problems accurately. Next week, I will prepare a practice rational numbers test and practices for rational numbers (decimal) with order of operations.

We went over details and troubleshot aspects of the project the student is working on to look for the presence of a certain bacteria in a specific probiotic tea via PCR. In particular, we discussed the importance and need to check DNA concentration prior to PCR, lowering the percentage of agarose in her gel based on the bp of product, addition of primers to negative control, and the use of the DNA ladder. I will be sending her details of the methodology.
