I covered solving polynomial equations using synthetic divisions and also constructing polynomial functions from given zeros. I also reviewed a set of pre-test calculus questions with the student.

During this session we covered inverse functions. The student was struggling simplifying functions involving multiplication and division at first. For a majority of the session we addressed simplifying functions down to a y=mx+b form through division and multiplication. Once the student picked up on this, we were able to successfully get through a few practice problems for inverse functions. He's doing very well. Once we identify what he's getting hung up on and address it, he does very well and retains the knowledge.

The student earned 85% on his recent test, which is a B. We went over his mistakes to ensure he grasps the concepts. Then we covered his questions about problems on a review sheet. He is doing his homework and has a good grasp of the techniques for his next test.

The student had a really high level of focus today that was great since we were working through a lot of vocabulary. We talked mainly about angle and segment bisectors and different special angles and their relationships. He did well today and is picking up the concepts quickly.

We continued to try and test out new test-taking strategies with the reading passages. We then focused on vocabulary and sentence completions. We discussed that his reading passage scores are improving while the vocab and sentence and completion are not improving. Next session we will work on root words to improve his vocabulary skills.

The student and I worked on a review of his Math homework. He was having trouble on a math multiplication worksheet. We worked on grouping the numbers by using manipulatives. At the end of the session, he was able to successfully write the multiplication equation and solve the equation. We will continue to work on this skill. I was extremely pleased with his progress. He also completed a Social Studies homework assignment. We co-read a story, and he wrote three sentences with new vocabulary from the chapter.
