The student was very excited about this week's reading comprehension activity. She is also doing very, very well with her word list for this week, and is starting to recognize when two letters "work as a team" to make a new sound, like the "ai" in "said".

Today we reviewed the first 2/3. The student seemed to have retained a good amount of it, and had a general idea of the answer for the majority of the questions, which was really promising. I am finishing up the study guide from the notes from the DRC, and then Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we will be reviewing and studying spelling for any unusual words that could be on the test.

We covered a LOT of calculus this session, The student had a ton of Calculus work and no work for Computer Science. Topics covered included a lot of problem solving with integration including area estimation, area computation, velocity and acceleration problems, distance and displacement problems, u substitution, computations for integration constants with boundary equations, and trigonometric integration problems. He was able to do the problems before I left.

The student only had a worksheet for Algebra 2, but it covered graphing and understanding the equations of circles, parabolas, hyperbolas, and ellipses. This was a lot of information to review and a lot for him to retain, but if he reviews the equations one more time on his own he should feel very comfortable with it. He also had some questions in Chemistry at the end of our session which were about phase changes and energy transfer when an element (primarily water) undergoes a temperature and possibly phase change. The student said that my quick explanation clarified any confusion he had.

Added two new chapters to the book about pigs, combining creativity with letter formation and spelling. Read first chapter of a long book, alternating sentences. Last 10 minutes were devoted to arithmetic as a reward for good performance. Student is showing increased ability to sit still as well as increased concentration; for example, he wrote the entire word "restaurant" without changing the subject.

We went over individual topics in the math, reading and writing sections, such as specific grammar rules to remember for the writing section. We continued to work on practice problems and discussed time management.
