Today, we discussed confidence intervals. After going over the student's notes, we went through a few exercises in his textbook. He had more questions than he normally does, but the questions were more of a higher level analysis, rather than simple questions specific to his homework. I left him with some practice problems in his textbook.

The student and I have been working on an all-around review of the material that she has to study for the AP exam. I encouraged her to memorize all the formulas and rules for the exam. We will work on this memorization as well as the chain rule next week.

The student and I worked on summation properties of arithmetic and geometric sequences. I taught her 3 formulas to use and she practiced applying them in different situations.

The student wanted to study history because he had a history test coming up the following day, so we began by reading and taking notes on the chapter that he hadn't read. This proved to be fortuitous because his exam turned out to be an in-class essay based on the content of that chapter! He was given a prep sheet to fill out with historical facts that supported a given thesis statement. So we worked on filling out that sheet with as much relevant info that we could find. Then I drilled him on how he was going to respond to the thesis statement. He had some difficulty tying the facts to his chosen response so we worked on how to support your thesis with facts in writing.

I checked the student's take home quiz, and she did well. She is still a little unsure about how to graph linear functions. We will work on it in next session. We spent 20 minute on advanced algebra study as well.

The student and I worked to connect all of the ideas about slope we have been discussing in the past couple of weeks. I think it was important to take our time because we are so far ahead of her class in school. She is very bright and picking up new information very quickly.
