Sandy Springs Tutoring FAQ

Let Varsity Tutors be your resource for finding a top educator in Sandy Springs, Georgia. We understand the challenges that can arise when your young learner is having trouble comprehending their science homework. It can be just as difficult if your high schooler attending The Mount Vernon School is facing challenges with their ACT preparations. You might want to get on the right track with your chemical engineering studies before the end of the term. No matter the academic needs of you or your student, we'll make sure to connect you with a tutor for students in Sandy Springs who can help.

If you're uncertain about the benefits of working with a personal educator, it's good to note that studies have found that students earn higher grades and better scores when they learn alongside a private instructor. One reason this could be true is a teacher's ability to focus on you as their sole student. They can use an individualized lesson plan to guide sessions, offer continuous feedback on your progress, and provide in-depth answers to any of your questions. A tutor can offer just as much assistance to your youngster in the 4th grade who needs writing help as they can to you as a professional who wants to learn a new skill for your career. Whether you have a middle schooler who wants to improve their math grades or you would like test prep assistance for the GMAT, let us know. You can even explore a new language like Mandarin Chinese as a casual learner.

How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in Sandy Springs?

A variety of circumstances can impact the amount you'll pay to take part in tutoring for students in Sandy Springs. You might be interested in meeting with an educator numerous times over an entire term to study for the LSAT.

Your rate per session could be lower in this scenario than if you opt to connect with your instructor just a few times. If your preschooler is learning to develop their fine motor and problem-solving skills, you could pay a different price for sessions than if your 7th grader needs to get up to speed with their history assignments.

Which tutoring subjects does Varsity Tutors offer for students in Sandy Springs?

You can get acquainted with a wide range of subjects when you take part in tutoring for students in Sandy Springs. If you are attending Georgia State University, you might want help with subjects ranging from accounting and computer science to physics and marketing.

Fortunately, we can locate instructors to get you on the right track. If you are pursuing a career in nursing, we can find an educator to help you prepare for a professional certification exam like the NCLEX. Younger students can explore subjects like math and social studies or prepare for a standardized test. Simply let us know your needs and we'll find a teacher to help.

Why choose Varsity Tutors for tutoring in Sandy Springs?

Before we connect you with a tutor for students in Sandy Springs, we carefully vet each one to confirm their qualifications. We also use our proprietary algorithm to make sure the educator we find has a comprehensive background in the subject you're studying.

This means, you never have to worry that your instructor won't be qualified enough to help you work on a research paper in your economics course. You can also rest assured that your elementary schooler who is having trouble developing their reading skills will land in the right hands.

Tutoring review by Tom in Sandy Springs, GA
I proctored an untimed reading test, which lasted about 56 minutes. Currently, the student is spending roughly 14-16 minutes per reading passage, and ideally, he should be spending half as much time. We were able to review his strategies for several of the questions/passages, and will go into greater depth when we meet next Wednesday afternoon.

The student and I worked on a packet I brought in on different aspects of effective sentences. We went over the different types of sentence errors and questions that he may encounter on the test. I had him write incorrect sentences and then correct them. Afterwards, we went over his homework. He did great on all three passages, missing 2 questions on the first two and 3 or 4 on the last one. I gave him some homework sheets on paragraph unity and coherence.

Tutoring review by Heather in Sandy Springs, GA
The focus of the rest of our sessions will be reviewing for various finals. Math is her first final, so we started our review for that today. She has access to all her tests from the year, so I had advised her to start working through those problems as a great study method. She started this on her own before our meeting today, so we were able to immediately focus on problems she had difficulty with. I found that she had forgotten how to do % increase/decrease problems (ex. a sweater is purchased for $40, which is a 25% discount; what was the original price). I re-taught her how to do those problems and she worked through the old test problems related to that topic. By the end of our session, she had completed about 80% of the test questions she had available to work on. I decided to take what she had finished home with me to grade, so that I could be sure she was doing all the problems correctly.

Worked with the student on writing and verbal today.  At this point he has the basics down in almost everything.  I want to focus our next few sessions on getting him to the point where he can complete the sections in the time given.  He tends to rush through the sections, finishing them in 10 or 12 minutes but missing more questions than he should. I am focusing with him on slowing down slightly and checking his answers. The only section that really concerns me is the reading section because this is where He's rushing is the most detrimental to his scores. We have talked about different ways to approach this section and it is where I will continue to focus my time with him.

The student and I covered more stuff about triangles. Properties about angles and lengths of sides. It was mostly using old concepts in new ways so he did well with it. Then we covered some simple stuff with quadrilaterals and he took well to it. He'll need more practice but we will cover that this week probably.
