Today the student and I reviewed his last English and Science sections and then more math problems. He is going to take one more full length practice ACT before next week and then we'll have one last day to review anything he wants to next week. He has increased his overall score to a 24 (yay!) and I think it could go up even higher than that. He does well with math, but still needs to review the skills that he has learned in his previous classes.

Tutoring review by Carrie in Onion Creek, TX
Getting to know you (family, schedules, availability, expectations, etc.): Completed a session with the student to better understand what she has covered and what her ability level is. Did a few practice problems from the math practice exam for assessment, as well as reviewing the formula reference sheet. Completed a short sample from the reading practice exam and answered a few questions. We discussed books she has read for leisure and school in order for me to gain some ideas for creating constructed response practice questions.

Tutoring review by Christopher in Onion Creek, TX
Discussed acid-base equilibrium problems with the student that were assigned from her text book. We looked at the same packet from her teacher as mentioned prior and she completed all the problems her teacher had recommended for that chapter. Also looked at worksheets from class to review problems she did not understand. Overall, after two lessons on acid/base equilibrium/buffers/solubility, we have covered a range of problems and she is ready to focus on the next section.

During today's session we continued going over the diagnostic test. We spent a lot of time on science, as that was the student's weakest section. We began discussing ways in which the student can work on determining the answer with more efficiency so she has a chance to answer all of the questions.
