The student is still comfortable with Algebra II, so we decided to not focus on that. We spent the session going through vectors and practicing problems that used them. He had some trouble with a worksheet in class, which we also went through. We spent the last part of the session going through problems that he should expect in the coming weeks, regarding 2D motion.

Tutoring review by Allyson in Massapequa Park, NY
The student has a really good grasp of many of the concepts, we just need to work on being confident about what the questions are asking for. Today we focused on math and how to translate word problems, when it's good to plug in/ substitute numbers, and how to use the information in the answer choices to eliminate wrong answers. I am sending her some practice related to translating word problems and inequalities and working on probability, and we will go over an English practice section next time.

Tutoring review by William in Massapequa Park, NY
During the session, I went over imaginary numbers, including factoring and distribution, and we reviewed some previous concepts like quadratic factoring and completing the square for her upcoming test. The student seemed to learn the material normally, but once again everything made more sense to her when I showed her the tips and tricks, such as substitution and simplifying the equation. I was notified of her test being changed to Thursday, and as such I have assigned her problems; she has them on her notes, and I have them written down.

Tutoring review by Jason in Massapequa Park, NY
Since this was the first session, we did two diagnostic tests to get a sense of where the student is regarding ISEE testing. Vocabulary and certain math concepts seem to be the main challenge, but he is smart and when he focuses, he is often able to arrive at the correct answer. I sent some flashcards for vocab for him to work on and we will go from there on Friday.
