Student did not have homework today so we reviewed trig that she does not understand. She was having difficulties with inverse trig functions, but her base knowledge of trig was weak too. We did some triangle practice problems and worked through the unit circle. Student then understood trig better and we could go back to the inverse trig problems. I will be giving the student a timed unit circle next week to make sure she is keeping up with her trig. Overall great session!

We went through rational equations and inequalities. I explained to her how she has to solve them, and she was able to solve them by herself. We solved almost 20 questions. We also covered kinetic for chemistry. I explained to her how she has to use different experiments to find the ratio the equation. She understood them, and she was able to solve them by herself. She is doing well.

The student has a test over area of polygons and circles tomorrow. We worked on a review set of problems she had on her computer. We then discussed different strategies for some of the different problems. She has some flashcards to study to help remember the different formulas. She was feeling more confident after the session.

Tutoring review by Laura in Haverstraw, NY
The session today was focused on Henri's AP History exam next Thursday. I do think he is in a position to do well on the AP exam, especially considering that he has averaged an A (94.7%) on tests in the class (all of which have been similar in format to the AP exam). He has a good variety of review materials that he has been working from, and I encouraged him to also use previous years' tests for practice questions. His teacher has organized a mock exam on Saturday from 8-11 am, which he plans to take, and which should be excellent preparation.

We looked at the vocab work they have been doing, and we did a list of words with "re" in them. I quizzed him on some of those words. Not surprisingly we came up with a list of over 30 words. He took three of them and made sentences for me.

Tutoring review by Dara in Haverstraw, NY
In preparation for a big upcoming test, the student worked on a study guide provided by her teacher that covered all concepts that she has learned thus far in algebra. Aside from "avoidable mistakes" she was able to complete the problems on her own asking me only when she came across a wrong answer. Her attitude toward the material was good, and when I asked her how she feels about the work she said it was easy just a lot of simple steps to work out.
