Went over homework problems the student had computed incorrectly and did additional problems to ensure he understood the material. He had an excellent test grade from last week! He finished his homework due the next day.

We covered the next study guide for the student's graduate statistics course. Topics included standard process control and regression analysis. She will have more information on her final project the next time we meet.

Today the student started quadratic functions, so we went over axis of symmetry and vertex points. I showed him how to obtain that value graphically and algebraically (which he prefers now). I tied this back to factoring but it seems like he forgot a little on factoring which does concern for me because factoring and quadratics are tied together. I will tell him next time to review factoring. He will learn the rest of quadratics and I should be able to help him same time next week with all of this.

Tutoring review by Daniel in Colville, WA
We covered multiplying polynomials again. For example, (2x^2-3x+4)(x^2-x-6). Also, we covered using Pascal's Triangle to figure out multiplying out larger polynomials, such as (x-3)^4. He seemed to already have a pretty solid mastery of the material. I decided that instead of only focusing on what he is doing in the current week, it will be helpful to spend the last ten minutes or so going over past material as well. This week, during the review session, we went over the quadratic equation and some imaginary numbers. Since last year, he has vastly improved in multiplying more quickly and makes fewer mistakes when adding or subtracting negative numbers. It was overall a good session and he was attentive throughout.

The student was studying for a Chemistry test, so we went over the concepts that were covered in his notes and on previous quizzes. He needed to create notecards to help him memorize definitions in order to recall things for the test. He did very well once we worked out the specific concepts.

Tutoring review by Jacob in Colville, WA
This was a truly excellent session. The student and I spent the first hour completing his history paper, which was according to our plans. The next half hour was spent creating a PowerPoint presentation on American Modernism. He completed the homework I assigned him for this session, and it made completing the PowerPoint easy and quick. In the last half hour, we were able to get started on another essay assigned in his communications class; this one about a personal experience with bias. Through a conversation, we generated a basic outline and conception of the paper for him to complete before Monday. This was a very productive session, and we were able to intersperse key learning tips and skills throughout. I helped him with some of the content, but he created the entire PowerPoint on his own. He should be in very good shape when it comes to present in the next week or so.
