About Me

I am a 2005 graduate of the University of Maryland, where I received a BA in English focusing on rhetoric, writing, and language. After college, I went into communications; I worked with both local and national associations. After several years, I decided to return to school for a Master in Teaching. I earned an MA in Teaching from the University of Maryland, University College concentrating in Secondary English Education. Upon graduation, I began working for the largest public school system in Maryland where I remain presently. In my near-decade of classroom instruction, I have taught all levels of English in high school and AP Literature. I love teaching and creating engaging lessons for my students. It is rewarding to watch students grow as readers and writers throughout the year. I treat each of the students as individuals and provide opportunities for my students to demonstrate their strengths with rigorous and diverse assignments. My classes have consistently performed above the county average on assessments. I am always looking for ways to improve my craft and recently achieved my National Board Certification. As a highly accomplished education, I am always looking to help students do their best. It is enriching to work with students who would like to improve. We have fun and work hard. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my husband and two children. We love to go hiking and travel. When I can, I try to catch up on Netflix and a good book!
