About Me

Apart from my main qualifications, I believe being a "good" teacher is to have a certain personality and character. Known to be a patient, understanding, and empathetic person, I believe I can work with students of all levels, personalities, and ages. I am also a big believer of fun! I believe any type of learning should be fun and exhilarating. As for my qualifications, I have been an English language teacher for more than 8 years teaching all age groups, including undergraduate students, and have more than 20 years of tutoring under my belt. I have worked with all grade levels (love/great with kids!) and am an advocator of using multi-modal instructional methods. I am not a big fan of boring/ineffective memorization and drills but like to use active learning to deliver instruction. I am also a doctoral candidate in literacy and language education at Boston University and have a B.A. and M.A. in English. I primarily focus on tutoring ESL, writing, and SAT/GRE test preps. I'm also offering tutoring in the Korean language (conversational Korean/reading/writing). I am a Korean-American, born bilingual in English and Korean, who can speak/read/write fluently in Korean.
